Recap: Toumai® Robot Performs the First Telesurgery in the MENA Region At the #21stAAUCongress, MicroPort MedBot #Toumai® surgical robot successfully performed a live demonstration from Doha to Shanghai—marking the first-ever telesurgery in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This milestone sets a new precedent in the history of surgical advancement in the region. This pioneering session connected Doha and Shanghai across 7,000 km, with a total two-way transmission distance of nearly 20,000 km—all over a 4G network 📡 with an ultra-low latency of less than 90 milliseconds ⏱. The surgery showcased clear, smooth visuals and rapid, precise responses from the robotic arms.
