  • 🎤 As we step into Black History Month, we celebrate the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black communities throughout history. We honor our past by fighting for the present this Black History Month. We refuse to let our missing be forgotten. 🎤 Two years ago, on February 3, 2023, we held our inaugural community event at District Hall in Boston, spotlighting three missing local young women of color. The event gained significant media attention, including coverage from WBZ News, bringing much-needed awareness to their stories. This National Missing Persons Day (Feb 3rd), we reflected on this urgent crisis and renewed our mission to bring these cases to the forefront. 🎤 This Black History Month, let’s not only honor the past but fight for those still missing today. Share a flyer, say their names, and help amplify the voices of the unheard. We encourage you to take action today: 📢 Share information about a missing person in your community on social media. 📢 Advocate by having conversations that challenge the disparities in media coverage and law enforcement response. 📢 Support organizations like Mics for the Missing that are working to make a difference. #nationalmissingpersonsday #blackhistorymonth

  • 🎤As we prepare to close the year, we want to personally thank you for supporting our $25 for 25 Days campaign. Your generosity has been instrumental in helping us bring awareness, advocate for change, and provide resources for families impacted by the silent epidemic of missing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. The $25 for 25 Days campaign might be over, but there’s still time to make a tax-deductible donation before the clock strikes midnight on 2024. Every dollar you give fuels initiatives like: 🎤Expand Educational Workshops: Equipping more children with essential internet safety skills. 🎤Raise Awareness: Bringing attention to the disproportionate impact on communities of color. 🎤Advocate for Change: Influencing policies to protect our communities better and foster systemic solutions.  We’ve witnessed the incredible power of community this year—through milestones like the groundbreaking legislative briefing we co-hosted in May at the Massachusetts Statehouse and the inaugural Missing Persons Day, hosted by the Massachusetts State Police and Boston Police (event pictured below). These pivotal moments, along with many others, were made possible thanks to the unwavering support of individuals like you. We’re thrilled to share our final fundraising total on New Year’s Day, and we’d love to include YOUR contribution in this movement for justice and healing. DONATE TODAY: https://lnkd.in/ej2hR456

🚨 We’re in the FINAL DAYS of our $25 for 25 Days campaign—ending December 27th! 🚨  Thanks to our incredible supporters, we’ve made incredible progress, but we still have $2,700 left to reach our $5,000 goal. Every donation counts toward amplifying awareness, advocating for systemic change, and ending the silent epidemic of missing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).   🎤 It all began on February 3, 2023, when Mics for the Missing held its first event on National Missing Persons Day. That night, WBZ News covered our powerful discussion and brought awareness to three local missing BIPOC women. The impact was immediate—sparking conversations, building community, and strengthening partnerships with law enforcement. Since then, what started as a conversation has grown into Mics for the Missing Inc. (MFTMI), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a movement to shine a light on the invisible crisis of missing BIPOC individuals. But we’re just getting started.   With your support, we can continue:   🎤 Raising Awareness: Highlighting stories that often go unheard.   🎤 Expanding Educational Workshops: Empowering communities with safety tools and knowledge.   🎤Advocating for Change: Influencing policies that protect the most vulnerable.   Together, we can turn up the volume and inspire change. Let’s ride this wave of hope and justice into the New Year! 🎤Donate today and amplify hope: https://lnkd.in/eHjrhrbK

🎤On May 1, 2024, Mics for the Missing had the tremendous honor of co-hosting and organizing the first-ever Legislative Briefing on Missing Black Women and Girls at the Massachusetts Statehouse. Now, over seven months later, we’re continuing to advocate, raise awareness, and build a movement to end the silent epidemic of missing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). 🎤Consider this reality: Nearly 40% of all missing persons in the U.S. are Black, while Black people only make up 14% of the population. Black women account for 40% of all missing women in the U.S. (Source: FBI’s NCIC Missing Persons Reports) For far too long, these stories have been overlooked. Our legislative briefing was a critical first step in amplifying these voices, educating policymakers, and starting meaningful conversations that drive systemic change. 🎤Why This Matters: At Mics for the Missing, we’re more than just an organization—we’re a catalyst for change. Through legislative advocacy, educational outreach, and creative storytelling, we aim to shed light on these cases, support affected families, and inspire action. 🎤We Need Your Help: You can join this fight by supporting our $25 for 25 Days campaign! Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already matched $175 for our 1,000 matched gift! That means there’s still $650 in matching funds available—an incredible opportunity to double the impact of your donation. Every dollar counts—and right now, it counts TWICE! Here’s how it works: 🎁$25 becomes $50 🎁$50 becomes $100 🎁$100 becomes $200 🎁$250 becomes $500 Your gift fuels vital programs like: 🎤 Advocacy and Awareness: Elevating these stories to drive systemic change. 🎭 Healing Through the Arts: Workshops and initiatives that empower families and communities. 📚 Educational Outreach: Amplifying prevention efforts through education and resources. We’re just getting started. Together, we can turn these conversations into lasting change. 🎤Donate today and amplify hope! https://lnkd.in/eHjrhrbK

  • 🎤 Raise it up for missing Black women and girls!  🎤 Across the U.S., Black women and girls constitute a disproportionate percentage of missing persons cases. In Massachusetts alone, we’ve seen a concerning trend where Black women and girls make up a significant portion of those reported missing, despite representing a smaller percentage of the population. This disparity underscores the need for targeted action and legislative measures to address the root causes and systemic issues contributing to these disparities. 🎤 A special thank you to State Representative Bud L. Williams, who authored Bill H.3913. His amazing staff, State Representative Chynah Tyler, and our dedicated Mics for the Missing organizers, all your hard work is greatly appreciated.  🎤 Thank you to Senator Liz Miranda, Lieutenant Colonel John Mawn, Jr, and Detective Lieutenant Ann Marie Robertson. Your support for this briefing was invaluable. 🎤 Thank you to all who attended our legislative briefing in person (we had a full house) and online.  🎤 Let’s keep raising up for change. Call your #massachusetts State Reps today! Black women and girls’ lives matter and their disappearances shall no longer go unnoticed and unaddressed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
