Last Friday was National Random Act of Kindness Day and our branches took up the challenge to "be the reason someone smiles today" in our local communities! Across Northeast, Central, and Western Ohio, MB branches handed out a variety of gift cards at local coffee shops and specialty stores, provided treats to first responders, gave out flowers at a local nursing home, donated baby supplies to local charities, supplied local food banks, and provided treats of all kinds to customers and friends. On February 11, (2-11) our teams dressed in blue to support United Way Services of Geauga County's Wear Blue Day to bring awareness of their 2-1-1 service line. 2-1-1 is the most comprehensive source of information about local resources and services in the country. It's powered by people: thousands of caring, local experts available to help, 24/7. Many of our Ohio communities benefit from 2-1-1 services to help provide resources and access information to aid them in their needs. The 2-1-1 network in the United States responds to more than 18 million requests for help every year. Most calls, web chats, emails, and texts are from people looking for help meeting basic needs like housing, food, transportation, and health care. 2-1-1 can be accessed by phone or computer, at www.211.org. A toll-free call to 2-1-1 connects you to a community resource specialist in your area who can put you in touch with local organizations that provide critical services.

On Friday MB's VP, Marketing and Communications Director Melissa Maki visited Kent State University - Trumbull Campus for Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio for the Junior Achievement Innovation Challenge. The JA Innovation Challenge immerses middle school students, grades 5-6, in the world of business by challenging them to develop a pitch for a new flavor of pizza for Pizza Joe’s, targeted at a market of their peers. Students work together in teams to practice entrepreneurial thinking and experience the creativity, sense of accomplishment, and excitement that comes with solving a real-world business challenge. Great job Melissa!!!
