“Are we ever truly ready for the unknown?” On December 30th at 3:00 AM, I faced my first Ultramarathon: 40 miles to honor my 40th birthday. This challenge is more than a physical feat—it's a reflection of the resilience and growth I've developed over the years, both as a runner and a leader. 1,903 days ago, I committed to running every day, no matter the conditions. From icy mornings to TDYs, I found strength in consistency and learned that each mile builds mental toughness. This mindset has shaped how I tackle obstacles in my military career and lead my team. Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about showing up. It’s about doing the work no one else wants to do, embracing adversity, and inspiring others through action. In the Air Force, I learned this the hard way as I navigated shifting leadership cultures, overcame setbacks, and committed to leading by example.
