Three companies have moved their headquarters to Milwaukee so far this year − with other office relocations in the works. Most people probably know Fiserv Inc. is now based with hundreds of employees just a few blocks from downtown's Fiserv Forum − after leaving its decades-long home in Brookfield. But they may not realize Regal Ware Inc. and Mayville Engineering Co. also have moved to Milwaukee. They're among a trend of outstate companies joining Milwaukee-area businesses drawn to Wisconsin's largest city. Since 2020, companies relocating or opening new offices are bringing more than 7,000 jobs to the downtown area, according to the Milwaukee Downtown Business Improvement District. Here's what to know. #Milwaukee #milwaukeenews #RealWare #Fiserv #Mayville #business

The city of Milwaukee is about to spend $1.6 million to stabilize City Hall's facade − 10 years after city officials approved a $15.9 million legal settlement designed to solve the same problem. A new building permit application for "temporary facade stabilization" has been filed for the historic building at 200 E. Wells St. That $1.6 million project involves installing safety netting to hold in place flaking pieces of decorative terra cotta and prevent them from falling to streets and sidewalks, said Tiffany Shepherd, Department of Public Works marketing and communications officer. That amounts to a temporary fix as department officials work to develop a timeline and cost estimate for fixing the problem, said City Engineer Kevin Muhs. #Milwaukee #milwaukeenews #cityhall

Now we want readers to tell us about the stores they wish were still open. Please fill out the survey in the article below. The most popular responses will be compiled into a future story examining the impact that many closed stores still have on the city. #milwaukee #closedstores #survey #milwaukeenews

One of southeastern Wisconsin's largest freeway projects in several years, the expansion of Interstate 94 on Milwaukee's west side, is to begin work in 2025 − even as its opponents hope to see another nearby freeway dismantled. The $1.2 billion (in 2021 dollars) project will widen I-94 from six lanes to eight lanes between 16th and 70th streets. It has received final federal approval, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Friday. The multiyear project is needed to reduce congestion and improve safety, according to WisDOT.
