Updates

  • 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗲’𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗨𝗽 𝗧𝗼: It’s been a busy month at Mission Broadband! You might have seen our recent posts about the ribbon-cutting event in the Town of Sebago, celebrations in Brooks and Waldo, or the TANE conference—but there’s even more to share. Here are some other exciting updates from our team: • 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 – Mission Broadband consultants Mark Van Loan and David Good returned to Chebeague Island to continue our work with the Maine Connectivity Authority and Axiom , upgrading residents from DSL to 1 Gbps fiber internet. During their visit, they performed some final inspections of customer installs as part of Chebeague Island’s ongoing FTTP implementation project. The network was constructed by Axiom Technologies and its partners, and services are being provided by Axiom. Mission Broadband was contracted by Chebeague Island and the Chebeague Island Broadband Committee to provide additional oversight of the project and work being performed on the island. With the network live and most installations complete, residents are very pleased with the project and the fiber-based internet services they now receive.  • 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Members of both the ProInfoNet and Mission Broadband leadership teams—including Jim Rogers, Trevor Gordon, and Jason D. Gay—attended the Maine State Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting in Augusta. They connected with state legislators and celebrated Laurie Lachance’s much-deserved reception of the Dirigo Leadership Award.  • 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Our entire team gathered in Portland a few weeks ago to review major projects and operational upgrades. We’re heading into 2025 with a refreshed strategy and big plans!  Swipe through the photos below to see some of the highlights and stay tuned for more updates coming soon! #MissionBroadband #TeamUpdates #BroadbandExpansion #DigitalInclusion

  • 🌐 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗴𝗼! 🌐 A few weeks ago, our consultant, David Good, joined Sebago Fiber and Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) for a special ribbon-cutting event in the Town of Sebago. The gathering was a testament to collaborative efforts in bridging the digital divide, with Sebago selectboard members, local officials, and Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) representatives in attendance. This event marks a milestone in a project that Mission Broadband has proudly supported since 2022, when we were engaged by GPCOG to write, facilitate, and advise on a Request for Proposal (RFP) process on behalf of the Cumberland Oxford Lakes Area Broadband (COLABs) committee. This collaboration is a prime example of what’s possible when communities and organizations come together to expand access in underserved areas. After an in-depth selection process, Sebago Fiber was chosen as the ISP partner for the project. Sebago Fiber also received a Partners Enabling Middle Mile (PEMM) grant early this year from MCA to augment their own financial investments in rural broadband, and we’re excited to share that they installed their first Sebago customers this month! Sebago Fiber is on track to bring fiber internet access to over 1,640 homes and businesses in Sebago and surrounding areas by summer 2025. This is just the beginning of expanded connectivity for the area, and we look forward to seeing its positive impact. #BroadbandExpansion #CommunityConnectivity #DigitalInclusion #MissionBroadband

  • Congratulations to Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) and Direct Communications for their work in bringing high-speed broadband to the residents of Waldo, Maine! Our consultant, David Good, had the pleasure of attending the celebration in Waldo last week, where he joined community members and partners as they marked this exciting milestone. This event gave residents the opportunity to sign up for service with Direct Communications and highlighted the transformative impact this new infrastructure will have on the region. Mission Broadband is proud to have supported the town of Waldo by performing initial broadband needs surveys, compiling and reporting on survey results, aiding in their search, assessment and selection of an Internet Service Provider, and assisting with construction oversight on behalf of the town. As Maine strives to close the state’s digital divide, projects like this are essential to achieving that goal. Here’s to a future of better connectivity for Waldo! #BroadbandExpansion #MaineConnectivity #MissionBroadband #MaineConnectivityAuthority #DirectCommunications
