CAREERS IN HEALTH: South Los Angeles needs more #doctors—as well as a range of other kinds of #healthcare providers. MLKCH partnered with the COPE Health Solutions Scholar's and Care Navigator Program to provide experiential learning opportunities for #students and community members aspiring to work in healthcare. This program not only prepares scholars for careers in health, but also offers potential career opportunities at MLKCH upon completion. This past year, 95 scholars participated, with six graduates now employed by MLKCH. An additional fifteen scholars have continued their studies in medical or healthcare fields such as medicine, nursing, public health and health administration. This program is made possible in part by the generosity of our donors. This giving season, support this and other programs with a gift today: mlkch.org/give-now Because of you, we're creating more opportunities for South LA residents to pursue careers in healthcare.

Thank you to our incredible community for contributing so many wonderful gifts to our holiday toy drive! Your generosity has truly brightened this season. We were delighted to welcome Captain Minott, Deputy Genisha MacPherson, and Deputy Christopher Minor from the Century Sheriff's Station, who stopped by MLKCH to collect the toys. These gifts will bring joy to youth in #Lynwood, making their holidays extra special. Together, we’re spreading cheer and making a difference in our community. Thank you!

The #Christmas spirit is alive and well at our East Compton #clinic! From CMG Medical Director Dr. Patrick Meehan stepping in as Santa to the festive “pregnant snowman” gracing OBGYN Dr. Danny Dan’s door, the creativity and holiday cheer are truly shining bright. A big thank you to everyone who helped deck the halls (and doors)! 🎄✨

HEALING: One of the complications of chronic illnesses like #diabetes is difficult-to-heal #wounds. To combat this, we created the MLK Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center, South LA’s only wound care center with individual #hyperbaric chambers for the advanced treatment of non-healing wounds and other complex health conditions. This year, our wound center saw over 2,000 patient visits, treated 238 new wounds with an impressive 91% healing rate in just 21 days on average, and completed 818 hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions to support recovery. This program is made possible in part by the generosity of our #donors. This giving season, support this and other programs with a gift today: mlkch.org/give-now Because of you, we’re tackling one of the most challenging complications of chronic illness in South LA: non-healing wounds.
