About us
The mission of the Modular Home Builders Association (formerly the Modular Building Systems Association) is to be the primary organization advancing the legislative and regulatory interests of the modular industry in the United States. The MHBA strives to increase awareness of the value of modular construction by consumers, suppliers, builders, and government officials; it advocates public policies that make modular building systems available on a cost-effective basis. The MHBA serves as a forum where members, suppliers, and builders work together for the purpose of fostering the exchange of information and innovation in the modular industry. The Modular Home Builders Association is the only national organization dedicated exclusively to serving the modular home builders and manufacturers. MHBA also advocates at the state and federal level to ensure a fair and competitive playing field for the industry.

🌟 Day 3 Highlights from the 2024 National Modular Housing Conference! 🌟 We started our final day with the MHBA State of the Association/Business Meeting, which included the Election of Directors. It was a great opportunity to reflect on our progress and outline our goals for the future. A highlight of the day was the engaging panel discussion titled "Almost Modular: How the HUD Code Industry May Be Confusing the General Public." With the emergence of the new hybrid product known as the “Cross Mod” and recent changes to HUD regulations and standards, it’s clear that the HUD Code manufactured housing industry is intentionally entering the modular home space. Our panelists explored whether consumers can truly understand the differences between these products and discussed the potential impacts on appraisals, financing, warranties, insurance, and resale value. It was an open and honest debate that provided valuable insights into the complexities of our industry. As we concluded our closing comments and adjourned the meeting, we reflected on the knowledge shared and the connections made throughout this incredible conference. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to our success! Stay tuned for more updates, and we look forward to seeing you next year! #MHBA2024 #ModularHomes #ConferenceHighlights #Networking

In a recent interview, our Executive Director Tom Hardiman sat down with Kristina Smallhorn to shed light on some of the most important, yet often misunderstood, aspects of the modular home industry. One key point? The confusion is caused by Cross-models, which blur the lines between modular and manufactured homes. Tom delves into how this overlap has impacted public perception and why it’s more important than ever to understand the key differences between these two housing options. If you’re considering building a modular home, this interview will give you the insights you need to make the right decision. Don’t miss out on this eye-opening discussion!
