We're excited to see one of our favorite partner brands Estee Lauder make headlines with their product launch in the U.S. Amazon Premium Beauty Store this holiday season. ✨ Through Amazon, Estee Lauder has debuted an innovative Virtual Foundation Tool, which enables shoppers to virtually try shades of foundation before making a purchase. 💄 We appreciate how this not only facilitates more personalized cosmetic shopping, but it probably means fewer returns and less waste, too. It's Black Friday! While this day can be a great time to find exciting deals, it has become increasingly representative of a day devoted to overconsumption and waste. 🛍️ In fact, a 2019 study found that 80% of items purchased on Black Friday are disposed of shortly thereafter. It's more clear than ever that we need to shift toward more sustainability in the industry as well as in the consumer space. If more focus is placed on designing and consuming products that are reusable or can be repurposed at the end of their lifecycle, imagine how much that could reduce the waste generated from days like today! 🛒 Read more about the statistics here: https://lnkd.in/dWKsTE4X.

We love seeing companies make strides toward creating more eco-friendly and zero-waste products in the beauty industry. 🌿 La Bouch Rouge is an inspiring example of a company that offers both perfume and makeup products in refillable containers. The original packaging comes in sleek plastic-free designs and the refills are supplied in minimal packaging that is fully recyclable. The Environmental Protection Agency conducted a study that found that Americans throw away as many as 2 billion disposable razors each year. We encourage our clients to consider the lifecycle of their products during our design process. How can companies make the shift to sustainable and reusable alternatives so we can decrease this number in the future? Let's talk and develop innovative solutions together! https://lnkd.in/ev5vP382

A recent survey found that 95% of beauty packaging is not recycled. The same survey found that over 50% of its participants are willing to pay more for sustainable beauty alternatives. 🌱 Companies like Izzy Zero Waste Beauty have found ways to meet this demand by creating zero-waste cosmetic products with reusable containers. We loved partnering with Izzy to design their sleek, sustainable, and reusable containers. Do you want your brand to go green in 2025? Let's talk about eco-friendly product design. We know a lot of work still needs to be done with respect to waste management and recycling globally, but it is so encouraging when you see progress being made. Take Sweden, for example. Not only do they recycle 47% of their waste, but they convert 52% into energy! That's 1% shy of diverting ALL their waste from landfills. Get a glimpse into the recycling system that Sweden has set in place here: https://lnkd.in/ewkSbsy3.

As many as 8,700 tons of microplastics are being used in cosmetic products across Europe today. That's a lot of plastic that could end up in our waterways! A company like Teysha Technologies may just have a viable solution with the novel material that they developed. The material, called AggiePol, is made from natural feedstocks that biodegrades into harmless sugars. If this compound is adopted by cosmetic companies, it could replace the microplastics currently used as binders in products like eyelash glue and shampoo.
