As we gather with family and friends this holiday season, we want to take a moment to appreciate one of the most iconic birds of Thanksgiving—the wild turkey! Did you know that wild turkeys can run up to 20 miles per hour and fly at speeds of 55 miles per hour? These fascinating creatures are not just symbols of the season but also an important part of our ecosystems. In the early 20th century, turkeys were threatened with extinction as their numbers dropped to about 200,000. Today, they are a success story with an estimated 6.9 million turkeys in the United States. In fact, wild turkeys may be found in 49 U.S. States showing its ability to live in a wide range of ecosystems. At Molpus, we are proud to sustainably manage forests across the U.S. that provide habitat for wild turkeys and many other wildlife species. Our commitment to conservation helps to ensure that these majestic birds, along with countless other creatures, continue to thrive in our managed forests. Today, we wish you and yours a most Happy Thanksgiving! #Thanksgiving #WildlifeConservation #SustainableForestry #Nature

We're excited to announce that more than 3,700 acres of private forestland in Boundary County will remain working lands in perpetuity. This achievement is thanks to the collective efforts of the Molpus Woodlands Group, the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) Forest Legacy Program, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG), the USDA Forest Service, and Manulife Investment Management, Timberland and Agriculture. Through the Forest Legacy Program, the Moyie River Corridor project secured six conservation easements along Dawson Ridge, encompassing multiple tracts of land managed by Molpus or Manulife. This initiative is important for protecting these lands from subdivision and development, and to help ensure a steady supply of sawlogs and fiber for our industry while preserving crucial wildlife migration pathways. As Jennifer Barker Jennifer Barker, IDL Forest Legacy Program Manager, stated, “The Moyie River Corridor project is truly a win-win for the landowners and the people of Idaho.” At Molpus, we're dedicated to sustainable forestry and responsible stewardship. Chad McElvany, our Deputy COO, highlighted our commitment, stating “[a]t Molpus, we are committed to sustainable forestry and responsible stewardship. By participating in the Forest Legacy Program, we’re protecting both the environmental and economic value of these forests for future generations,” He further said “[t]his project demonstrates our ability to balance land stewardship, wildlife protection, and timber production, all while benefiting local communities and the environment.” To learn more, please click here for the full news release: https://lnkd.in/gHqDvKH4 #SustainableForestry #Conservation #WorkingForests #ForestLegacyProgram #Idaho #MoyieRiver #Wildlife

On this World Planting Day, we're proud to celebrate our commitment to sustainable forestry. Molpus strives for long-term sustainability and productivity of forests through timely regeneration. Since 1998, we’ve planted over 271 million trees, with 13 million planted in 2023 alone. We view every tree planted as an investment in future generations as we work to sustainably manage over 1.7 million acres of timberland. #WorldPlantingDay #Sustainability #TreePlanting #WeReplant

At Molpus, we take pride in managing sustainable timberlands that support diverse species, including the wood turtle, which resides in the forests we manage in Michigan. Currently, wood turtles are being evaluated for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Molpus is part of a collaborative project conducting critical research on the relationship between wood turtles and sustainable forest management. This effort brings together government agencies, private working forest owners, academics, and conservationists to develop strategies that help protect wood turtles while also supporting healthy forest ecosystems. Key collaborators on this important project include: • US Fish and Wildlife Service • National Alliance of Forest Owners • National Council for Air and Stream Improvement • Michigan State University We’re excited to be part of this initiative to integrate sustainable forest management with wood turtle conservation. #NationalReptileAwarenessDay #WoodTurtle #Michigan #EndangeredSpecies #Conservation #Biodiversity #WildlifeConservation
