About us
The Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement service to all of the Florida Keys, which include approximately 125 miles of islands branching off the southern tip of Florida. The main and only highway, U.S. 1 runs from Florida City to Key West, and in that span, there are 42 bridges connecting the islands.

Detention Deputy Trainee The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is accepting Preliminary Applications for the Detention Deputy Trainee Academy anticipated May 12, 2025. The Academy will be held at the College of the Florida Keys on Stock Island. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will pay for your new career including tuition, books, and salary. Starting salary is $51,354.00, and increases to $61,037.00 upon successful completion of the academy and state exam. The work location will be at the Main Jail in Key West.
