On this day in 1852, Nobel Laureate Henri Becquerel was born! This French physicist was the first person to discover the phenomenon of radioactivity. He was awarded the The Nobel Prize in Physics together with Marie and Pierre Curie in 1903. For his incredible influence on this field, a unit of measurement was named after him: the becquerel.
