  • Roma Entrepreneurship Development Initiative had the pleasure of speaking with Baciu Romeo. Baciu Romeo, an entrepreneur from Reghin, Mureș County, set out to create something new for his community. He recognized the need for a social space where young people could gather, so he launched a PlayStation gaming lounge and café. His vision was not just about entertainment, but also about fostering a welcoming environment for families and friends. Starting the business was not without challenges. Financial hurdles and the fear of a large investment made the journey uncertain. However, with determination and a strategic location near a high school, he built a space equipped with state-of-the-art PlayStation 5 consoles and VR experiences. The café addition brought an extra dimension, making the venue appealing not just for gamers, but also for parents and other visitors. A bank loan played a key role in scaling the business, allowing Romeo to invest in infrastructure and enhance the customer experience. His success has made him a local role model, particularly within the Roma community, demonstrating the power of persistence and innovative financial planning. Looking ahead, Romeo is preparing to expand into the catering industry, leveraging his existing resources while seeking additional financial and strategic support. His story is a testament to how vision, adaptability, and the right interventions can transform an idea into a thriving business. Who in your network needs to hear this story? Le LABA had the pleasure of interviewing Judyth Babin, their EU project manager who appears to be also a France-based entrepreneur and founder of Manag'Art / Grains de Riz. Manag'Art, launched in 2017, operates in the cultural sector, offering administrative and production support to artists and cultural institutions. The association helps with payroll, funding applications, event production, and more, supporting tours across countries like China, Romania, Spain, Norway, and Martinique. Grains de Riz, founded in 2019, is an independent label that supports emerging artists with album production and tour management, emphasizing solidarity and cultural exchange, inspired by the Martinican saying "Sé gren di ri ka fè sac." Judyth’s journey into entrepreneurship was fueled by her love for music and her desire to bring more structure and support to the industry. Drawing on her background as a DJ and public accountant, she saw firsthand the gaps in administrative help and the need for a comprehensive support system for artists. This inspired her to create Manag'Art and later Grains de Riz to ensure artists could focus on their craft while receiving the backing they needed to succeed. Despite challenges like securing funding, finding skilled staff, and navigating cultural sector regulations, Judyth's resilience and innovative approach helped her overcome these obstacles. Her dedication to building a supportive community and connecting with diverse artists has solidified her influence in the cultural and creative industry. Her journey brought her to cross the path of European fundings and coopération projects and she now specialised in this domain with Le LABA.
