With a flare for taking on even the crappiest projects we trudge through the sludge of some interesting pumping projects. We knocked out tests on over 40 pumps in-plant and across a city (even dealing with rush hour) in a work day with empath. This includes verification of prior repairs. 14 months after the first visit we were brought in because we outperformed other tech well under budget. The energy and emissions aspect definitely assisted in the reliability successes to date and an increased excitement by personnel and management who made a point in meeting with us. So I was asked about our sales - especially as $75/EMPOWER system is going to a Veteran group each quarter. To put our hardware sales into perspective, these are yesterday's orders shipping today because two of them are requested overnights. EMPOWERs: One to a mining company in the USA, one to a clean energy service company in Japan. EMPATH: Full system for a coal fired Powerplant. ECMS portable monitoring kit: Windpower OEM. They use these to study their powertrain, generators and transformers to observe interaction to make design improvements. Yeah, we're about that. No cloud or AI requirements, but capable. Accurate enough that we are invited to participate with engineering organizations and trade groups for industry solutions. We just happen to not brag about all of our customers, they do that for us. Yep, drinking from a firehose this week. Panels, papers and workshops associated with the grid and related challenges for electric power in the USA. Lots of info to report back to the ACP standards group and lots of ammunition for my next article related to electrical reliability in Reliable Magazine. The concerns were and were not surprising and, contrary to some strange news pushed online lately, the concern is not general user's air conditioning, but, yes, data centers and cryptocurrency. And not just a minor thing and not necessarily good news for small customers around them. Yes, distributed energy (DERs, or alternative energy, or green energy - whatever you prefer) was definitely a topic strongly supported by utilities as a definite need but, at the same time, generating new engineering problems. Oh, and AI/ML was definitely in the discussion across all three days so far (I was the token DER representative). Storage was also a major discussion, as well as skilled workforce. Happy Veterans Day.

While we have seen a few organizations and companies without ESA/MCSA experience suggest that you cannot test a motor on a test bench we have been doing it for decades. Even beyond the #EMPATH Electrical Signature Analyzer, in which we have provided ECMS-E1 systems as part of repair shop test panels, we have maintained the ability with our latest release, the #EMPOWER #MCSA system. In this case study we evaluate a 400 hp, 1785 RPM, 4000 volt electric motor that had arrived from a repair shop customer with the EMPOWER. The resolution of the EMPOWER allowed us to identify a rotor casting void (cast aluminum rotor – yep, that does happen in medium voltage) and a greasing issue, both not caught with vibration on the test bench. If you have a high resolution ESA or MCSA system there is not much you cannot catch.
