This morning, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Secretary of State for Health Wes Streeting met with Movember, their supporters and families impacted by men’s poor health. Hearing firsthand accounts, they discussed the urgent need to engage men more when it comes to health. This follows the government’s commitment to its first-ever Men’s Health Strategy, launched at the Men’s Health Summit at Arsenal F.C's Emirates Football Stadium in partnership with Movember. With 2 in 5 men in the UK dying prematurely, this strategy marks a critical turning point in addressing preventable health issues. Movember has long championed these issues, and this week’s progress signals a significant milestone for men’s health, in which the Movember community has played a pivotal role in paving the way for meaningful change.

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health on a global scale.
About us
Since 2003, Movember has built a global men’s health movement, funding more than 1,300 projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Movember has taken on three of the biggest health issues affecting men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide. Movember has: ▪ Invested almost $350 million in over 600 biomedical research projects, focusing on prostate and testicular cancer. ▪ Funded 4 prostate cancer registries, with over 200,000 men enrolled from 23 countries. ▪ Supported interventions designed to assist and guide men through the prostate cancer journey, offering them resources and information so that they are empowered to make their own decisions, manage symptoms and share lived experiences. ▪ Since taking on mental health and suicide as a cause area in 2006, Movember has united experts, funded bold new approaches and embraced fresh perspectives. We’ve focused on prevention, early intervention, and health promotion through a male lens. Movember is for everyone, not just for men. We are a health movement and our invitation to take part is open to everyone. We champion healthcare that is sensitive to the needs of everyone, including men, so that everyone benefits. And we have a strong focus on how improving men's health can have a profoundly positive impact on women, families, and society as a whole. But we lead the charge in encouraging men to adopt healthy behaviours, challenging health systems and confronting gender norms to reduce health inequalities and save more lives. *BOOM* the UK government has just announced it will launch a men’s health strategy. We are over the moon. Movember and our partners have been calling for this a long time to help improve men’s health outcomes and bring the UK in line with other countries around the world. The strategy and the Men’s Health Summit that the government hosted with us today is a significant step forward that will transform the face of men’s health. This progress is urgently needed given how many men are dying too young and losing years of healthy life. Movember - along with our 2.5 million supporters across the UK and brilliant partners - stand ready to work with Government to make this strategy a reality. What a way to bring the month of Movember to a close. Head here to read all about it: https://bit.ly/4ePnnFY

Country musician, Payton Smith, is using his Movember moustache to spark important conversations about men’s mental health. Payton wants to remind men that it’s okay to be vulnerable and ask for help, because “when you let it out, when you cry a good cry - everything seems clearer on the other side”. Read Payton’s story and how he’s hoping to see change in the way men think about their emotions at https://bit.ly/3OuVDLW

Golf Talk Canada hosts Mark, Adam and Bob are Growing and Moving for men's health. Adam and Mark are growing epic moustaches, while Bob is running 60 km to honour the 60 men who die by suicide every hour. The trio wants to raise awareness that lasts well beyond the hairy season - so they're encouraging men to take charge of their health and check in on each other year round. Mark’s advice, sometimes a simple “You good?” text is all it takes to jump start a meaningful conversation. Read the full story: https://bit.ly/4fZr7FN

This hairy season, we’ve teamed up with professional and collegiate athletes across the US to initiate important conversations. The goal? Get more men talking about stuff that really matters. At the start of the month they shaved down and caught up. Now, they’re touching up those staches with Gillette and touching base with each other. Athletes give their all on the field, and now, we’re helping them bring that same focus to their mental health. Movember and Opendorse present MindMoves, a new program designed to support the mental health of college athletes and open the conversation on mental health in sports.
