Palestinian children like their counterparts across the globe deserve to enjoy a childhood filled with play, learning, and hope! This is the crux of the “Shofoo bi Oyouni" (See Through My Eyes) campaign. More than 10 children per day, on average, have lost one or both of their legs since the conflict erupted in Gaza (Save the Children). The crisis has created an unprecedented number of civilian amputees, with 70-80% of hospital admissions resulting in lost limbs or spinal cord injuries. Exciting job opportunity! Programme Director - SEL in Foundational Learning. The SEL in Foundational Learning initiative has been established by Porticus, in collaboration with other key foundations. The goal is to strengthen the evidence base for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as a key component of Foundational Learning. The overall initiative will develop a shared research agenda and establish funding mechanisms to commission targeted research that addresses critical gaps in SEL at scale, with a focus on Global South contexts. Education is the strongest shield for children in crisis; it nurtures resilience, sparks hope and lights the path to a brighter future. Despite the devastating impact on Gaza's education system, with over 400 schools damaged or destroyed, the spirit of learning persists. Children who lost their home and family, still dream of continuing their education. This resilience echoes throughout Gaza, where the literacy rate stands at an impressive 97%. The current crisis has set back education by up to 5 years, yet the unwavering commitment of Palestinian educators and students shines through.
