The Moxy is a small, wearable sensor that utilizes infrared light to continuously monitor Oxygen saturation (SmO₂) levels in the muscles of elite athletes while they exercise. Designed to help the individual athlete in real world environments improve performance by understanding what’s limiting performance.

    👏 What a successful first day at the #MoxySummit 2025! I would like to express my gratitude to Roger Schmitz Moxy Monitor for proposing the establishment of this excellent programme. 😊 It was a great pleasure to kick off this event as a keynote speaker. 💡 Highlights: "Time to to consider muscle oxygenation in sports monitoring" ▶️ The benefits of utilising the NIRS technique in measuring the muscle physiological status during exercise and training. ▶️ The current availability and popularity of wearable NIRS sensors present a promising approach to assessing muscle function, but formal longitudinal and cohort studies are required to ascertain their suitability in the context of sports monitoring.  ▶️ The current NIRS devices provide a range of data on the internal burden of athletes, which can be used by coaches and practitioners to monitor, evaluate and prescribe training characteristics.  ▶️ Integration of muscle oxygenation metrics alongside the most common indicators (i.e., Heart rate and Rating of Perceived Exertion) for the quantification of internal training loads in relation to external indicators (power, speed) 📑 https://lnkd.in/en_H9qyY 📑 https://lnkd.in/egAGn-Zi Day# 1️⃣ ✅ A considerable number of NIRS applications have already been developed, with further applications currently in development.  ✅ The collection of NIRS data is becoming more accessible, even in sporting contexts.     🔬 Exciting Research on Low-Intensity Exercise with Blood Flow Restriction (LI BFR) 🚴♂️ New studies show that LI BFR may boost rehabilitation for neurodegenerative diseases by enhancing #neuroplasticity. 💡 This approach engages high-threshold #MotorUnits even during low-intensity exercises, leading to increased neuromuscular fatigue and variability. However, the exact mechanisms of motor unit recruitment are still being explored. A recent study (link in the comments 👇) investigated motor unit activation during LI BFR, using the Delsys high-density EMG #NeuroMap solution, on wrist flexion. Results revealed a significant shift toward higher-threshold motor units, suggesting this technique could be highly beneficial in clinical settings 🧠. The effectiveness of BFR was quantified by using the Moxy Monitor 💪 These findings open the door to deeper investigations on the long-term effects of LI BFR for improving motor unit coordination and rehabilitation outcomes. 🌱 Excited to present the practical applications of #MotorUnit investigations tomorrow at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and University of Exeter symposium (https://lnkd.in/e2mGNVD5)!
