👨🔬 Dr. Mark Mondrinos is a confirmed speaker at the MPS World Summit 2025 in Brussels (Belgium)! He conducted pioneering work in lung tissue engineering while completing his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Temple University School of Medicine, where he studied acute lung inflammation, then at the University of Pennsylvania, where he developed various organ chip technologies and microphysiological systems. He is now an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University and a research project leader in the Tulane Center of Excellence in Sex-based Precision Medicine. The Mondrinos laboratory is working to develop sex-specific human cell culture methods and MPS disease models. Sex-specific MPS are used to investigate clinically-relevant sex hormone effects on pathophysiological processes, such as the influence of estrogen signaling on female lung cancer progression and potential roles of androgen signaling in male diabetic retinopathy. #MPS25

The MPS World Summit is an international conference that brings together microphysiological system innovators.
About us
Our heartfelt thanks go out to all participants, hosts, committee members, volunteers, speakers, poster presenters, session co-chairs, sponsors, and exhibitors who contributed to the success of the 3rd MPS World Summit! This marks the last year that the conference will be organized by the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT). This year's conference marked a rewarding and energizing conclusion to a concept that has been three years in the making. The event saw high attendance, with academia, industry, and government sectors all well-represented. We saw a remarkable presence of students and trainees (190). The energy and enthusiasm among attendees was noticeable, and there was genuine appreciation for the beautiful city of Seattle and the exceptional efforts of our hosts at the Seattle Convention Center. We deeply appreciate everyone who collaborated with us to achieve this remarkable success. As CAAT transitions the MPS World Summit to the capable hands of iMPSS, a young but thriving society, we want to acknowledge and appreciate the many contributions made since 2022 by organizers, partners, vendors, and volunteers. Special thanks to the steering group, consisting of over 60 organizations, jointly promoting the field and the Summit, our scientific advisory committee, program committee, fundraising committee, and all our hosts through these past 3 years (Don Ingber, Suzie Fitzpatrick, Thomas Hartung, Peter Loskill, Uwe Marx, Marcel Leist, Elaine Faustman, Thomas Neumann, and Danilo Tagle). This project would not have been possible without your dedication and hard work. Next year, the MPS World Summit returns to Europe. The 4th MPS World Summit will be held in Brussels, Belgium in June 2025. We hope to see you there!
