As Chinese New Year celebrations continue through February, our Kuala Lumpur colleagues made sure their event had excitement by tossing the Yee Sang, specially created in the shape of a snake to honor the #YearoftheSnake, into the air—the higher the toss, the greater the fortune! The festive atmosphere was the perfect way to bring in the Lunar New Year as our #BrilliantlyDifferent team gathered around the beautifully arranged Yee Sang, which symbolizes wisdom and transformation, and handed out red packets, known as ang pow, to wish each other good luck, happiness, and blessings for the year.

When Samantha Watson-Crooks thinks about Black History Month, she goes straight to Sidney Poitier, a Bahamian American actor, film director, and diplomat. “Poitier, a fellow Bahamian, is a true inspiration,” said Samantha, our Head of Investor Operations for Private Equity - North America & Europe. “He defied expectations, shattered stereotypes, and used his presence on screen to challenge injustice.” His story is a reminder that “true impact comes from standing firm in one’s values, even when the world tries to impose limits," she added. All of this is particularly relevant during Black History Month, which is a “time to honor the fortitude and brilliance of those who paved the way before us,” Samantha said. Samantha follows the example set by pioneers like Poitier by setting challenging goals, embracing excellence to achieve them, staying true to her principles, and creating opportunities for others. "Whether in my career or personal life, I hope to inspire those around me to aim high and push past barriers,” she said. “Black History Month is a moment of reflection, but the conversation must continue every day, ensuring that progress is not just celebrated but sustained." We're grateful to have Samantha’s perspective to shape our #BrilliantlyDifferent culture.

We’ve been proud “Partners for Life” with Canadian Blood Services for more than a decade, working together to ensure that life-saving blood components are available for those in need.
