Baseado nisso, o MUFG lançou o tema da Inclusão Intencional que visa criar, de forma consciente, espaços onde diversas vozes não estejam apenas presentes, mas também ativamente engajadas e capacitadas para contribuir. No MUFG Brasil, durante o Mês de Consciência Negra, em novembro, tivemos um rico bate-papo com uma especialista externa sobre os desafios da população negra, a fim de conscientizar e educar a respeito do tema, e apoiar ações contra o racismo. Já em dezembro, celebrando o Dia Internacional da Pessoa com Deficiência, foi oferecida a experiência imersiva “Show no Escuro”, que buscou aumentar a conscientização sobre a realidade das pessoas com deficiência visual. O show incentivou uma percepção mais profunda de sons e músicas, fazendo com que os espectadores dependessem da audição e de outros sentidos que não a visão, colocando-se no lugar do outro, e fortalecendo a empatia. Essas atividades foram planejadas por nossos voluntários, compostos por funcionários dos grupos de fala e aliados. Following this, MUFG launched the theme, Intentional Inclusion, it aims to consciously create spaces where diverse voices are not only present, but actively engaged and empowered to contribute. In MUFG Brazil, during Black Awareness Month, in November, there was a rich roundtable with an external specialist about the challenges from black voices, raising awareness, education and supporting actions against racism. And in December, celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities, it was offered the immersive experience “Concert in the Dark”, that sought to raise awareness about the reality of people with visual impairment. The show encouraged a deeper perception of sounds and music, making viewers rely exclusively on hearing and other senses, putting on other people’s shoes, fostering empathy. These activities were planned by our volunteers, composed by speeches groups and allies. This week George G., MUFG Head of U.S. Macro Strategy, discusses the implications of a second Trump presidency on the economy. In George’s view there are a couple schools of thought forming on how markets participants are looking to further position for a 2nd Trump administration, one that also has Republicans in power in the Congress as well. In one camp, and the one that has worked thus far, has been the playbook from the 2016 Trump 1.0 election, where financials and the dollar rallied but rates sold off. George suggests that there is more than one path potentially ahead and that it will pay to remain open minded on what may happen to the economy, markets and overall policy. On the back of a recently published FOMC preview report, this week George G., MUFG Head of U.S. Macro Strategy, walks us through what to expect at the September FOMC meeting and the rationale for why our house view is calling for the first cut to be 50bps. George also explores how this easing cycle may progress. In George’s view, this is an historical event because this easing cycle is being launched as a preemptive move to avoid further cooling in the labor market and economy. In the last few easing cycles, the Fed has lowered rates in reaction to a specific event or catalyst (i.e. http://ms.spr.ly/6047mVoic bust, GFC and the pandemic) that shocks and quickly weakens the economy (forcing the Fed into action). This time the Fed has seen the macro environment turn and is being cautious because recent data is likely overstating how healthy the economy truly is. Therefore the Fed is trying to modulate rates with the goal of avoiding a hard landing due to macro reasons (driven by the impact of higher rates on consumer spending, small business activity and government finances). In our view, and as covered in the podcast and our FOMC preview report, there are plenty of reasons to start off with a 50bp cut.
