I just wanted to share a bit about my recent experience at work and hear your thoughts or any tips you might have! 😄 So, I got my FMLA approved super fast and I’m set for 12 weeks of paid leave. Seriously, it was such a relief! However, I hit a little bump with my boss. When I needed to take sick leave recently, he said I should have given him a heads-up. Like, how in the world can you predict when you’ll get sick? 🤷♀️ Also, have you noticed how we’re expected to cover our boss's responsibilities while they’re out, yet they have a meltdown when we take time off? 📅 It’s such a double standard! I mean, I get that managers need to manage, but they should also be able to delegate tasks. Isn’t that part of their role? 🤔 On top of this, I’m requesting remote accommodations for my job, which is totally do-able from home. Here’s the rundown: 🔹 **First up was a 7-11 interview.** I arrived 5 minutes early, excited and ready to go. But guess what? The employee at the register looked at me like I had three heads and shot back, “Oh, the woman who does interviews isn’t here today.” So, why did they remind me all day about the interview? 🤷♂️ 🔹 She didn’t even take my name or number — just sent me on my way. After calling multiple times without success, a week later, the manager finally tells me to swing by the next day for another shot. 🔹 I show up at the same time, and this new lady tells me the manager's not in again. But I want to let everyone know that it’s totally possible to find a job even in smaller cities. Here’s how I made it happen: Stay Persistent: I applied to pretty much every IT-related position I could find. Keeping an open mind really broadened my chances!
