Thank you, President Carter, for showing us the power of humility, service and hope. So saddened to hear of his passing, a true statesman and humanitarian. Five years ago, I had the privilege of meeting him during my previous role in Atlanta. Inspirational, inclusive and forward-thinking are the first words that come to mind when reflecting on that encounter. President Carter’s commitment to creating a safer, healthier and more equitable world remains an example of leadership. His legacy, from advancing peace and diplomacy to eradicating disease through the Carter Center, continues to inspire us all. Every year, on November 16, we celebrate #DutchAmericanHeritageDay to shine a light on the close cultural and economic ties between our two nations. 🇺🇸 🤝 🇳🇱 It all started with a simple "hello," and today: - More than 3.5 million Americans are of Dutch descent. - Through our economic ties, we support more than 1 million American jobs. - The Netherlands is a fixture in the top five foreign investors in the US with more than 2,200 Dutch companies active in the US that have investments worth more than $717.5 billion in 2023. - It goes both ways, because the Netherlands is the second destination country for foreign direct investment coming from the US. - We have even gone to space together!
