Effective Oct. 1, Nacha Rules give ODFIs more opportunities to request entries be returned. Now, ODFIs can ask for the return of any entry, not just those involving errors like wrong accounts or duplicate entries. RDFIs are still allowed to use discretion, and beginning April 1, 2025, RDFIs will be required to provide ODFIs with a status for the request. Financial institutions are encouraged to communicate about these requests using the new Secure Exchange in Nacha’s Risk Management Portal. Explore how your financial institution can benefit from this new rule. https://hubs.la/Q02WZYPN0

With the Nacha Rule update effective Oct. 1, RDFIs are better equipped to handle potentially fraudulent transactions. Return Reason Code R17 can now be used at the discretion of the RDFI to return any entry deemed questionable, including credit-push payments. This broader application provides more control and enhances security. Read more about how to implement these new fraud prevention measures. https://hubs.la/Q02WZXzB0
