Slovenia Joins the EU Clean Hydrogen Partnership 🌍💧 Slovenia has signed a cooperation memorandum with the EU Clean Hydrogen Partnership, marking a key step towards advancing renewable energy goals. ⚡🌱 This collaboration will directly contribute to the development of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley 🏔️💡 and strengthen efforts to build a sustainable hydrogen ecosystem. 🚀 The North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV) Consortium marked its one-year milestone with a successful meeting in Rijeka on September 23rd and 24th, 2024! 🎉 Delegates from the 37 project partners spanning Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy gathered to review the progress of key hydrogen projects and align their strategies for a sustainable future. Key highlights: ✅ 17 industrial testbed projects are advancing across the region, focusing on hydrogen production, storage, transmission, and usage—driving forward decarbonization and renewable hydrogen adoption. ✅ Welcoming a new partner: Municipality of Cres, which is set to continue the development of hydrogen infrastructure for the Cres-Lošinj archipelago. ✅ Education and training initiatives were highlighted, with universities from Rijeka, Ljubljana, and Trieste working on interdisciplinary programs to train future professionals in hydrogen technologies. Vocational training programs, supported by national ministries, are being developed with a focus on reskilling and upskilling.  ✅ Launch of the North Adriatic Clean Hydrogen Investment Platform (NACHIP), offering opportunities for up to 18 SMEs to integrate into the region's growing hydrogen value chains. 🌍 One year into the initiative, partners of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley meet in Rijeka Partners of the NAHV gather in Rijeka at the annual Consortium meeting to review the implementation of key projects, assess risks along the way and focus on integration into their respective social and industrial environments. NAHV is a transnational initiative funded through the Horizon Europe Programme comprising more than 100 delegates representing 37 project partners from three countries: Croatia, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region in Italy, and Slovenia. 🚀 Driving the EU Hydrogen Strategy Forward NAHV, a flagship transnational project, received €25M from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership under the Horizon Europe Programme. The project aims to create a green hydrogen ecosystem that supports industrial decarbonization and sustainable energy solutions. With pilot projects already underway, NAHV is poised to produce up to 5,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually and boost investments of over €700M in hydrogen-related tech. 🌱 Welcoming New Partner: Municipality of Cres We’re pleased to welcome the Municipality of Cres to the NAHV Consortium. 🚀 Green Hydrogen Production in Šoštanj: A Step Towards a Sustainable Future! 🌍 Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) is seeking to address the energy gap that will emerge after the closure of the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ) by focussing on the production of green hydrogen. The process of obtaining a construction permit is already underway, and it's projected that the first 300 tonnes of hydrogen will be produced annually by 2026.
