Last week reminded me how fortunate I am to live in a community of people who say “yes” when it comes to creating opportunities for young people. That’s what Dan Spring, SIOR said when I approached him about hosting a class of senior Commercial Photography students from McKinley High School, several who also have an interest in real estate. Not only did Dan and his team Bryce Custer, SIOR, CCIM , Joe Jackson and Kelly Sober, CCIM make time to talk about their career journeys and answer student questions about the real estate industry, but so did my longtime friend and photographer for NAI Spring, Shawn Wood. Shawn brought his drone along with a presentation that showed how he makes decisions of what to capture in his real estate photos. What followed was a truly engaging discussion about everything from lenses to real estate marketing strategies. It was fascinating to hear the students’ questions, which displayed all they had learned about photography in Heather Hutmacher’s class! Dan provided lunch for everyone, which gave us time for small group mentoring conversations, giving students a chance to ask questions and talk about their post-graduation plans. It was a great day, topped off by a photo by the drone!
