  • Today for #TherapyThursday, we would like to share with you an article discussing the reality of high functioning depression. Although you may be familiar with the obvious signs of depression, high functioning depression is not quite as easy to spot or pinpoint. It is important to remember that even those with the biggest smiles and the most productivity may still be struggling silently. • July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Did you know that only 37.9% of non-Hispanic Black or African American adults with mental illness received treatment in 2022? Despite the changing conversation, discrimination in the health care system persists, and many Black people encounter negative experiences when seeking treatment. Discrimination is just one of the many reasons that this large gap exists within receiving mental health care. This is also a crucial reason as to why NAMI Sharing Hope was created! • Grief is a complex process that many navigate in various different ways. Something to understand about grief is that there is no right way to grieve. There are no timelines or how to’s. When facing something as challenging as a loved one taking their own life, this can make the healing process all the more challenging. Below, we would like to share Marielys personal story that shares the seven lessons she has learned as a survivor of a friend’s suicide. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please dial 911 or call the Suicide And Crisis Lifeline by dialing 988. #itsokaytonotbeokay
