NANOBLOC
Nanotechnology Research
Antimicrobial, Antiviral, and Antifungal Nanocoatings, by sustainable synthesis methods, for application on all surfaces
About us
NanoBloc’s aim is to provide reliable Antimicrobial, Antiviral, and Antifungal Nanocoatings, by sustainable synthesis methods, suitable for application on all surfaces and textiles. To do so, NanoBloc® is mobilising an interdisciplinary (materials, coating processes, microbiology & AI) cocreation alliance between 4 world-class universities & institutes, and 5 leading industrial companies (3 SMEs & 2 large enterprises) and 1 standardization body who together will cocreate, develop and upscale (from TRL3 to TRL6) reliable ‘Made in Europe’ antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral coatings manufactured with industrially scalable, versatile and green technologies suitable for application on a variety of different substrates: filter materials (air filtration units, face masks), textiles (protective clothing, mattress covers, aprons, wallpaper), and also on diverse high-traffic solid surfaces (door knobs, handles, handrails, sanitaryware-taps, etc.). Building on previous encouraging results obtained by the consortium partners, NanoBloc® coatings will be tested in working conditions for each envisaged application, with particular emphasis on their health & environment safety.

🌍✨ NANOBLOC was present at the 14th International Conference on Ceramic Materials and Components for Energy and Environmental Systems (CMCEE) in Budapest, August 18-22. Our colleague Angelica L. represented the project at the Global Young Investigator Forum symposium with a presentation entitled “Antimicrobial/antiviral composite coatings via the co-sputtering method.” Angelica presented the results of our morphological, compositional and structural analysis of silica and zirconia coatings with silver nanoclusters deposited on metallic and polymeric filters at Politecnico di Torino. Antibacterial and antiviral results from the Università degli Studi di Torino, carried out by Manuela Donalisio and David Lembo, were also shared. In addition, preliminary results of the scale-up process, developed in collaboration with AGC INTERPANE, were presented and Omar Benzine contributed to this key phase. We are excited to continue to push the boundaries of antimicrobial and antiviral materials, and this conference was a great opportunity to share our progress with the international scientific community. 💡🔬 #InnovativeResearch #AntimicrobialCoatings #AntiviralResearch #MaterialsScience #CMCEE
