Among the hardest hit is the Topanga Creek area, which lies directly in the path of the Palisades fire. The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains (RCDSMM) is on the front lines of recovery and restoration. Their vital work includes rescuing endangered species like the tidewater goby and steelhead trout, whose habitats and water quality in Topanga Creek have been severely impacted. But they can’t do it alone. Big things are happening on and around our Huichica Creek property in the Los Carneros AVA of Napa County! We’re embarking on a 70-acre habitat restoration project that will bring new life to an important creek corridor connecting the San Pablo Bay to the Mayacamas Mountains. We can't do this without our neighbors, including commercial vineyards and the California Department of Fish & Wildlife. Napa RCD has launched a Request for Proposals (RFP) to contract with one or more contractors to support the development of a Regional Priority Plan for the Inner Coast Region (i.e., Colusa, Lake, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo counties). The Regional Priority Plan is a key deliverable of the Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program block grant awarded to Napa RCD on behalf of the Inner Coast Collaborative, a regional collaborative effort between Lead Partner Organizations in each of the counties mentioned above.
