In a collaborative effort with Council Member At-Large Zulfat Suara, Vice Mayor Angie Henderson, the Metro Nashville Public Schools District Office, and the School Board, we celebrated the inaugural Youth in Local Government (YILG) Day this Tuesday, April 2. An inspiring group of over 50 students from Antioch High School, McGavock High School, and Pearl-Cohn High School, joined by representatives from the Nashville Mayor's Youth Council and three dedicated NCYC youth ambassadors, stepped up to the Metro Council. These bright young minds presented critical issues affecting their communities, showcasing their thoughtfulness and desire for change. Not only did these students make their mark with powerful presentations, but they also experienced the inner workings of local government and connected with council members. This event was a unique opportunity for them to see democracy in action and to understand the impact they can have on their city. We're deeply thankful to Council Member At-Large Zulfat Suara for making this partnership possible and for the shared commitment to making the needs of Nashville’s children and youth a priority. Remember, the strength of a city is seen in how it supports its youngest members.
