🌾🌱 Promoting Sustainable Farming in Tunisia! 🌱🌾 On 12 February, the National Institute of Field Crops, the Tunisian National Institute of Agronomy, and the Krib-Siliana territorial extension unit organised an Information Day on Integrated Pest Management as part of the NATAE project. 🌱 Launch of Cross-Visits in Tunisia: Siliana - El Krib Living Laboratory From January 25–28, farmers, researchers, and development actors from Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, France, and the Netherlands gathered for the first cross-visit of the NATAE project. Hosted by INAT, the visit focused on key agroecological challenges: soil fertility, legume integration in cereal systems, and agricultural extension. 🔑 Highlights: - Showcasing sustainable practices like no-till sowing and crop rotation to combat soil erosion. - Exploring the benefits of legume/cereal rotations for soil health and reduced fertilizer use. - Emphasizing agricultural extension through pilot farms and peer-to-peer learning programs like INGC’s “Farmer Leaders.” This cross-visit marked the start of a 2025 series aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing in agroecology across North Africa. 📍 Next stop: Algeria (February 20–23) at the Laghouat living laboratory. 📖 Read more about the visit: https://lnkd.in/dgizMQ4p #Agroecology #Sustainability #NATAE #Innovation #NorthAfrica #FarmersLeadingChange

The Regional Conference on "Agroecology: Science and Policy" moves forward. After a first day of discussions and exchanges, the second day is underway, focusing on the role of scientific research and policy in advancing the agroecological transition in North Africa.

Tomorrow kicks off the Regional Conference on Agroecology: Science and Policy in Tunis. Organized by the Observatoire du Sahara et du Sahel (OSS) Sahara and Sahel Observatory and the CIHEAM-IAMM, the conference will bring together experts, researchers, policymakers, civil society representatives, and private sector stakeholders to explore agroecology in North Africa.
