  • Youth Art Month is Approaching in March! Did you know Youth Art Month (YAM) was originally established as Children’s Art Month in 1961 by the Crayon and Watercolor Institute? Youth Art Month is now coordinated at the national level by the Council for Art Education. This month-long celebration highlights the positive impact of visual arts education, which is often overlooked in standard core curriculum subjects. State and local organizers plan a variety of activities and events, including art shows, exhibits, fund-raisers, and other special events to emphasize the significance of visual arts education. One of the Council for Art Education’s key events is the national Student Flag and Banner Contest for K–12 students. Winning designs from each state are showcased in the Youth Art Month Museum during the National Art Education Association Convention each spring. How do you plan to celebrate Youth Art Month this year? Use #YouthArtMonth2025 to share! We hope you can join us to see all the amazing YAM artwork on display at the NAEA25 Convention in Louisville, KY, March 20–22! #NAEAThrowbackThursday #ArtTeachers #ArtsEd #ArtsEducation

  • This year, we want to highlight all the fantastic work done by National Art Honor Society Chapters nationwide! Today, we want to celebrate Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club, TX! Last year, their NAHS members continued to spread awareness of the visual arts and represent the art community at their school. Also in 2024, they launched an outreach program called “Spread the Love” during the Valentine’s season of February. They created hearts with encouraging messages and placed them around campus for students to find and keep, hoping to broaden the Valentine’s message to include self-love as well as loving others! NAHS Sponsor: Holly Smether Are you ready to inspire your students and foster a vibrant arts community at your school? Consider starting an NAHS or NJAHS Chapter today! It’s a fantastic way to support young artists, encourage leadership, and bring exciting opportunities to your art program.
