Pharmacies. The face of neighborhood healthcare.
About us
NACDS focuses on advocating for pro-patient and pro-pharmacy public policy; communicating the value of community pharmacy as the face of neighborhood healthcare; and fostering business community and solutions through effective meetings and other member programs. NACDS represents traditional drug stores, supermarkets, and mass merchants with pharmacies – from regional chains with four stores to national companies. The NACDS membership also includes pharmacy and consumer goods suppliers. NACDS Total Store Expo blends the trade show and senior-level conference formats into a powerful appointment-based show, including pharmacy, consumer goods, supply chain and logistics. This next-generation trade show enables strategic and tactical collaboration across functions within retailer and supplier partners.

NACDS is calling for members of Congress to produce a PBM reform law this year: “It is time to finish the job.” https://lnkd.in/eDu27fWw

NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson urges the 118th Congress to prioritize #PBMreform before concluding work in 2024 ⤵️ 💬: “Urgent needs remain – and unavoidable duties call – for the current 118th Congress. Congress already has done the hard work to develop and to forge bipartisan consensus on how to reform the tactics of market-dominant pharmaceutical middlemen – PBMs. More than two-thirds of voters agree – Congress should consider PBM reform to be ‘must-pass legislation’ before concluding work in 2024. By the same margin they agree that their member of Congress should ‘do whatever it takes’ to ensure Congress enacts such legislation in 2024. “Congress cannot leave undone and further delayed the reforms that will reduce Americans’ prescription drug costs, protect access to necessary medications and to pharmacies of choice, give pharmacies a chance against underhanded PBM tactics, and preserve the vitality of entire communities.” #PBMreform Read More: https://bit.ly/3UB0GOE

National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) President and CEO Steven C. Anderson issued the following statement upon The New York Times publishing of an article titled “The Middlemen: The Powerful Companies Driving Local Drugstores Out of Business” – the second article in a series described by the paper as being about “how pharmacy benefit managers distort the health care system at the expense of patients, employers, and taxpayers”: 💬: "This article is yet another important demonstration of the need for Congress to enact the bipartisan PBM reforms on which the hard work already has been done. This is exactly why more than two-thirds of voters agree that Congress should consider #PBMreform to be ‘must-pass legislation,’ and that their member of Congress should do whatever it takes to ensure Congress enacts PBM reform in 2024.” Read More: https://bit.ly/4ePfEsp
