The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) believes the best management of any patient with cancer is a clinical trial, but the idea of enrolling in a clinical trial may seem daunting. In this video, hear why Julio Piña, a patient with anaplastic ependymoma, and his wife Liz enrolled in a trial and what the process looked like. It was wonderful to hear from some of the nation’s top researchers and clinicians at the ReMission Summit, sharing insights on the immunotherapy landscape for #braincancer. Thank you, Dr. Mitchell, for organizing such an incredible event. Always a bonus to connect with our friends at ABTA! 🧠

Survival rates for adult and pediatric patients with brain tumors have not changed significantly over the past 45 years despite major improvements made in the treatment of other cancers. Through NBTS’s DNA Damage Response Consortium, researchers like Erik Sulman, MD, PhD, at NYU Langone Health's Perlmutter Cancer Center are working together across institutions to disrupt the status quo because breakthroughs can’t wait.

✨2X MATCH! ✨ Our current and former board members are generously matching all gifts (up to $250,000) to NBTS between now and December 31, 2024! Give today to DOUBLE your impact for the #braintumor community — your gift advances our mission, providing hope, community, research, and support to patients, caregivers, and their families: https://lnkd.in/ePPeBfQP In the words of board member Leah Recht, “My father, Barry, was diagnosed with a chordoma brain tumor and fiercely fought for three years before he passed away in 2007. That’s when I discovered NBTS and [...] found a supportive community of survivors, care partners, and grieving loved ones who understood what my family was going through. Today, it gives me comfort that I’m turning my grief into something positive by volunteering as a NBTS board member. I reflect on what we needed during my dad’s fight — access to quality care, innovative research, and community. That’s why I’m passionate about ensuring every family facing a brain tumor diagnosis has a better chance.” #NationalBrainTumorSociety #braintumorcommunity

🍪 On National Cookie Day, we look to those who are "baking" a difference for the brain tumor community and fundraising for NBTS. Eleven-year-old Lauren P. and her brother Ben raise money for NBTS in memory of their grandfather, Doug, by hosting their annual “Baking Away Brain Tumors” bake sale — cookies included! The money raised goes toward their Wisconsin Brain Tumor Walk & Race fundraising efforts. Kathy S. sells Bake Like Rach sprinkle cookies in memory of her daughter, Rachel, who passed away from glioblastoma. The proceeds benefit NBTS as part of Kathy’s Race for Hope DC fundraising. Happy #NationalCookieDay! If you’re interested in hosting your own cookie or baking fundraiser, reach out to CommunityEvents@braintumor.org to get started.
