All of the work we do is on children’s behalf, driven by our mission and vision, and the values we hold in common.
About us
The National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) / Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Association for Children, together with its network of 941 state organizations and local programs in 49 states and the District of Columbia, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every child who has experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and the opportunity to thrive. National CASA/GAL leads the continued growth and development of this extensive national network of CASA/GAL programs, each of which recruits, trains and supports volunteers who advocate in court for the best interests of children and youth who are in the child welfare system or foster care. CASA and GAL volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for children and youth. Volunteers work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators and service providers to ensure that judges have all the information they need to make the most well-informed decisions for each child. For many children, their CASA or GAL volunteer will be the one consistent adult in their lives. The positive impact of a CASA or GAL volunteer can help a child thrive.

"In 2022, almost 109,000 children in the United States were waiting to be adopted with the possibility of aging out of care if a permanent home is not secured. As we observe Native American Heritage Month and National Adoption Month, we invite supporters of our mission to learn more about how to advocate for children and youth in the child welfare system. CASA and GAL volunteers support the best interests of children in foster care, making sure they receive the support and stability they need." --Observing Native American Heritage Month and National Adoption Month in November Read more: https://lnkd.in/grprgZAX #NationalAdoptionMonth #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

In 2023, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of ICWA, which is crucial in protecting the rights of Native American children and families. This #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, we reaffirm our support of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and advocating for the best interests of Native American children and youth in foster care.
