Yesterday brought news that President Trump is moving to diminish the US Dept of Education by a forthcoming executive order & Elon Musk's DOGE has gained accessed to sensitive personal information of millions of students enrolled in federal student aid programs. While this story is still developing, 2 things are clear: ➡️ Unlawful access of individuals' data, if occurring, must be stopped ➡️ The current chaos is a threat to a high functioning federal student aid system https://lnkd.in/e9JZKjsE

The mission of the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) is to build, strengthen, and empower communities and stakeholders to close equity gaps in postsecondary attainment for all students. In today’s economy, a college degree is in greater demand than ever before. Unfortunately, issues such as rising tuition costs and confusion about complex college admission and financial aid processes keep many qualified students from entering college. Many of those who do enroll face additional challenges finding the support and resources they need to graduate. These factors have left today’s young Americans less likely to obtain college degrees than members of their parents’ generation. NCAN works to reverse this growing college opportunity gap. At NCAN, we unite the key organizations dedicated to increasing college access and success. With our members and partners, we develop and support programs and policy solutions that help more students enter and complete college and other postsecondary training.

Millions of students rely on the personalized support provided by the call center to attain an FSA ID & complete the #FAFSA, which includes a chat bot run by FSA. It's imperative that the call center provides accurate information and that operators are able to address technical issues that students & families are encountering.
