  • BREAKING NEWS! The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) applauds the U.S. Senate’s bipartisan effort to pass the Stop Campus Hazing Act. Every student has the right to learn and thrive in a safe and healthy campus environment and once signed into law, this important legislation will increase transparency about hazing incidents and hopefully prevent future acts on college campuses. We extend our gratitude to Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Bill Cassidy, Rep. Lucy McBath and Rep. Jeff Duncan, and their staffs, for their leadership in championing this bipartisan legislation. We are also appreciative of the thousands of hours put into advancing this work by the collegiate and alumnae members of our organizations. For several years, our members have advocated for this bill on Capitol Hill, and similar bills in state capitols across the nation. Today’s passage is a monumental step forward in protecting college students and eliminating hazing from college campuses. @senamyklobuchar @senbillcassidy @replucymcbath @repjeffduncan @arnoldandporter

  • Yesterday, a coalition of six current students and the Gamma Mu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta initiated legal action against University of Maryland administrators, demanding a declaratory judgment after the university denied students their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights “in a significant manner.” The Gamma Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta is one of 16 Panhellenic chapters at the University of Maryland. NPC appreciates the courage of the women of Kappa Alpha Theta to take this action on behalf of the Panhellenic community at Maryland and across the country.
