  • It is that time of year again—the #GiveAHam challenge is here, and generosity is in full swing! Last week, the Oklahoma Pork Council board member Brett Ramsey of BLUE & GOLD SAUSAGE COMPANY took the challenge to new heights by donating over 8,700 pounds of pork to fight hunger in Oklahoma. Partnering with the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and Iron Gate Tulsa, they provided protein to families in need and served 800 meals—spreading hope to those who need it most. Now, it is your turn! Here’s how you can get involved this holiday season: 1️⃣ Donate pork to a local food pantry or organization. 2️⃣ Share your story using #GiveAHam and #PoundsOfPork. 3️⃣ Challenge family, friends, colleagues and more to do the same. Lend a helping ham and bring home the bacon by giving the gift of pork this season! #GiveAHam #PoundsOfPork

Today, Oklahoma Pork board member Brett Ramsey of Blue & Gold Sausage reminded us all of the power of giving through the Oklahoma Pork Council’s #GiveAHam Challenge. While they’re known for their fun skits and creative challenges, this year’s efforts from Blue and Gold sharply focus on something even more meaningful—fighting hunger in Oklahoma, where 1 in 6 people face food insecurity. In partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and Iron Gate - Tulsa, Blue and Gold donated more than 8,7000 pounds of protein in the form of bulk sausage and bacon, helping distribute food across the region. They also went a step further today, serving 800 meals to those in need. Brett passed the torch by challenging Oklahoma Pork board member Tom Layne, the Jones Kiwanis Club, Oklahoma House of Representatives speaker-elect Kyle Hilbert, and Oklahoma State Senate pro tempore-elect Lonnie Paxton to join in spreading generosity this season. Let’s all answer the call and #GiveAHam or any way we can in our communities—because together, we can serve more than meals. We can serve hope. 💕

  • Pork producers across the country are continuing a holiday tradition—supporting families in food deserts by providing essential protein to those in need. Meanwhile, Congress’ inaction on Prop. 12 and the Farm Bill places a heavy burden on farmers. Without a Farm Bill, many pork producers face the risk of shutting down or making drastic cuts, jeopardizing their ability to sustain operations and support their communities. Congress must act on Prop. 12 to ensure producers can continue feeding and fueling local communities. Read more from Illinois pork producer Phil Borgic: https://lnkd.in/gnRJYnpR.
