Moving race & equity into the role of primary driver in Implementation Science and practice.

About us

The National Race Equity Implementation Center (NREIC) is an intermediary housed at the Children and Youth Cabinet of Rhode Island (CYC). NREIC is moving race and equity into the role of primary driver in Implementation Science and practice. NREIC knows that treating content relevance and participant engagement as top tier fidelity factors will both operationalize equity in implementation science and lead to better behavioral health and clinical outcomes for children, youth and families. NREIC accomplishes this through strategic fund development, large scale national projects, local coaching engagements, the publication of independent research and process evaluations, and national/international presentations.

  • From Hawaii to the UK, we were beyond fortunate to recently have the whole team in Providence. While many of you know these folks and their incredible work as individuals and institutions, their work at the Center is just getting started. . Our portfolio of projects is growing, our strength and shared identity as a team is deepening, and we're look froward to sharing with everyone what we're up to, and why we're up to it. . Race, culture, and identity are evidence; and people are the experts of their own experiences.

From our fearless Deputy Director! Please join me, team CYC and all members of the National Race Equity Implementation Center (NREIC) in welcoming Amanda Fixsen (and this giant picture of Amanda Fixsen) into each and every part of our local and National work as our Senior Implementation Specialist. . Time and work aren’t linear. We draw from the past and do our best to forecast/influence the future while making decisions in the now. Years ago, Brian Bumbarger, PhD, MEd told us if we weren’t gonna nest our intermediary (intermediaries now) in academia, we would need to purchase that expertise and capacity elsewhere. He also said that we would need to find the right person who would be a true believer in the work we do as well as having a classical, academic foundation. . For the past seven years I have had the immense privilege of working with Amanda as a contractor on projects from Alabama to New Mexico, and back through Chicago, with incredible people and opportunities, building a way of work. . Amanda on the open market wasn’t going to last long so we didn’t even let it get that far. Immense gratitude to Rebecca Boxx (as always) for agreeing to move on Amanda quickly. You absolutely do miss 100% of the shots you don’t take – this one was a no brainer. . Welcome to the krewe, Amanda! We’re very, very lucky to have you. The future of research, evidence, implementation science, and outcomes is being written every day in communities by residents. They’re the experts, they know what’s best for them, not us. -Matt
