This week's Tech Tip Tuesday is about tablet ejection force! Tablet ejection force is how many Newtons are needed to push a tablet out of a die. If the ejection force is too high, there is the risk of tablet defects occurring, such as capping and lamination. For tablet presses that monitor ejection force, we cover how to calculate your maximum ejection force limit. To do so, you will need the tablet perimeter and the tablet edge thickness. A few ways to mitigate the high ejections forces include using enough lubricant, tapering dies, and adjusting punch retainers. Read the attached article, written by Todd Martin, Senior Technical Service Engineer, to learn more about tablet ejection force. For assistance or questions, please contact Natoli Engineering at 636-926-8900. Did you know there are two factors that can limit the speed of a tablet press? These factors are poor tablet quality and the inability to maintain consistent tablet weight. In order to maintain tablet weight at high speeds, it is necessary to consider the fill time under the feeder, which is greatly influenced by the speed of the press. Calculating fill time requires three key factors: - Press speed - Turret pitch circle diameter - Feeder length This can also help you estimate tablet productivity. It is important to know other factors such as feeder paddle speed, material flowability, and punch tip-to-die clearance can also play a significant role in output optimization. To learn more about fill time, please read the article below, written by Todd Martin, Sr. Technical Service Engineer. For assistance, please contact Natoli Engineering at 636-926-8900. #FillTime #TabletPress #Tablets #TabletProduction #TabletProductivity #TabletOutput #Pharmaceutical #Nutraceutical #Industrial #Engineering Dale Natoli Todd Martin William Turner Mateusz Liszko Michał Luleczka

This week's Tech Tip Tuesday dives into Tooling Tolerances. The weight of a tablet can vary due to the differences in tooling. One of the most critical contributors to tablet weight variation is the lower punch working length. This does not affect larger tablets as much as it does smaller tablets. To help decide whether it is worth the additional cost in selecting a tight tolerance, a free spreadsheet calculator is available. To learn more about tooling tolerances, read the article below, written by Todd Martin, Sr. Technical Service Engineer. For further questions or ask for the free calculator, please contact Natoli Engineering. We are happy to assist you at 636-926-8900. #TabletWeight #Tooling #ToolingTolerances #TabletProduction #TabletPress #Tablets #TabletProduction #Pharmaceutical #Nutraceutical #Industrial #Engineering Dale Natoli Todd Martin William Turner Mateusz Liszko Michał Luleczka
