I'm excited to announce the successful completion of my work with Born Global as the project manager for the second phase of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Jonesboro, Maine Biochar project! 🌱✨ This experience has been incredibly rewarding and has significantly enhanced my skills in stakeholder analysis, creating a pluralistic evaluation framework (PEF), and engaging with local communities. One of the major contributors to our success was the support of the talented interns who assisted with various aspects of the project, such as completing a techno-economic analysis to assess the feasibility of biochar scenarios in Jonesboro. Their contributions were instrumental in driving the work forward. A key focus of my role was developing a comprehensive framework for evaluating the project's success and impact, ensuring alignment with economic development and sustainability goals outlined in the Justice40 initiative. It was an opportunity to develop systems that prioritize both environmental and social benefits. 🌍 Working closely with the DOE grant, I gained a deeper understanding of integrating local communities—especially tribal and labor groups—into the innovation process for renewable energy and biochar production. This approach helps foster a "sense of place" in implementing solutions, ensuring they are well-rooted in community needs and values. 🔬🌿 I want to extend my gratitude to Dr. Kimberly Samaha, Adarsh Ghosh, MBA, Nick Heier, Cooper Yerby, and Gayatri S. for their invaluable collaboration and support throughout the project. Their teamwork was truly essential to its success. The insights I’ve gained in stakeholder engagement and sustainable project development are lessons I will carry forward in my journey to advance sustainability and community-driven innovation. I'm looking forward to phase three, where I’ll implement what we’ve learned and continue collaborating with this incredible team on future initiatives!
