About us

Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County is a human services agency that is dedicated to building a better future for people in the communities we serve. Our family-centered and community-based approach provides a long-term commitment to improving the quality of life for families in the neighborhoods we serve. By offering a consistent and stable neighborhood presence, we are able to provide a balanced mixture of programs and activities that build community, teach new skills and provide advocacy and support for families. This balance also allows us to facilitate relationships between families and offers the necessary support before a crisis erupts. Each program or service creates a layer that is individually important, but collectively creates a context that allows families to enhance their quality of life and achieve a sustainable level of self-sufficiency and success.

  • ✨ Meet Jacob: A story of growth and transformation. When Jacob joined our Early Childhood program at just 4 years old, he was quiet, shy, and hesitant to interact with others. His parents worried about his social skills and hoped our program could help him build confidence and connect with others. At first, Jacob preferred to play alone. But our teachers gently worked to build his trust, using storytelling, cooperative games, and group projects to help him feel safe and encouraged. Slowly, Jacob began to open up—listening intently during storytelling sessions and eventually sharing his own thoughts. 💙 Today, Jacob is confident, curious, and excited to take on new challenges. His parents are overjoyed by his transformation: “We’re so grateful for everything this program has done for our son,” they shared. Your support makes stories like Jacob’s possible. Together, we can create even more transformations in 2025. #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ece #CommunitySupport #Support #ncjciowa
