Retiring NEADS CEO Gerry DeRoche was honored on Friday by the Massachusetts Department of Correction during a Community Open House for NEADS at MCI Norfolk. We also heard from the DOC Commissioner, Shawn Jenkins, the Deputy Commissioner, Mitzi Peterson, and others. NEADS Trainer Meghan led a taskwork demonstration with two program dogs and handlers, and remarks from one of the handlers brought the entire room to tears.

It’s not just about giving up a pet; it’s about giving forward a new lease on life to someone in need. In this snippet from Wealth Beyond Riches, Cathy Zemaitis details the profound impact that service dogs have on individuals with disabilities, educators, and first responders. Wonderful article written about long time NEADS Puppy Raiser, Cinda Capone, who passed away last year. She not only was a valuable volunteer for us, she also served her community in so many ways. https://lnkd.in/eY_acMeu
