Earlier this month, a federal court halted the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirement under the Corporate Transparency Act, but the Fifth Circuit Court reinstated the Jan. 1, 2025, deadline. However, last week, the court reversed that order, delaying the reporting requirement indefinitely. https://lnkd.in/gu28HwPg

A last-minute court of appeals ruling could put tens of thousands of farmers in legal crosshairs for failing to register their businesses with the federal government. Farmers who operate corporations and limited liability companies are once again required to file Beneficial Ownership Information with the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) or face stiff fines or jail time. https://lnkd.in/eFrRjRcs

More evidence has emerged that food price inflation was a driving issue behind people’s voting behavior this year. Last month, Tidbits mentioned an Associated Press story which reported that 6 in 10 voters who indicated they were “very” concerned about the cost of groceries voted for President Trump. The results of a November survey by researchers at the University of Illinois echo the point. https://lnkd.in/gdBbEAhh

Crop production expenses will continue receding next year according to the 2025 crop budget estimates released by the Center for Agriculture Profitability at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. If true, it will be the second consecutive year expenses have receded. Yet despite the retreat, costs remain much higher relative to a few years ago. 📉🌾 https://lnkd.in/gdG7tWVU
