Had an inspiring evening alongside #NEIDMembers at NYU Africa House exploring efforts to recontextualize The Metropolitan Museum of Art Galleries. It was incredible to learn how these initiatives are bringing African heritage sites and stories to the forefront, shifting perspectives and deepening our understanding. A special thank you to the World Monuments Fund for co-hosting this event and supporting the important work of reimagining cultural narratives. I have just come off a very inspiring call organized by Thousand Currents and want to share this piece by Solome Lemma to remind everyone that this is actually a globalizing moment. A reminder that solutions to so many issues that bring us here to this moment are global (as well as local) and that philanthropy has a key role to play in helping to support movements, systemic solutions and the space for imagination - so that we can create new approaches and global alliances that ultimately help create local solutions. Fantastic event with an incredible range of experienced practitioners!
This is the power of networks--A huge thank you to the Equality Fund and the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship for co-sponsoring with us at the Network of Engaged International Donors (NEID) on Tuesday night at the stunning Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco. NEID is a network of international donors, institutional funders, and investors, and we were thrilled to learn from some of the most innovative organizations harnessing the power of markets to address the world's most complex, intersectional issues facing most of the world's population. We heard from Scott Onder, the Co-Founder of the creative Mercy Corp Ventures, Mercedes de la Vera, Manager of the exciting Energy Partnerships at Acumen, JacqueUno Ovens Vp of Investments at the groundbreaking Equality Fund, and Elan Emanuel, CIO of the investment arm of water.org, bringing water to billions via WaterEquity. Ashley Orton of NEID did a fantastic job. It was a full house, filled with dynamic connections and a soulful gathering of old and new friends. Hope is a muscle, and the more we flex it together, the sooner we will build the future that is just for all. Brigit Helms, Scott Onder, Elan Emanuel, Mercedes de la Vega, Ina Jamuna Breuer, Ashley Orton, Gabriela Reyes, and Project Dandelion.

In recent years significant progress has been made in strengthening the regional infrastructure of philanthropy organizations supporting the generation and support of local climate solutions. These networks are thinking deeply about how to prepare for the future, linking international agendas with domestic decision making and creating a stronger voice for global south actors on climate.
