Putting yourself out there is hard. It is a scary thing to go on live, national tv and tell the world what you’re doing. Some will love you and what you’re doing. Some will hate you and what you’re doing. But I think it is always worth the risk. I am SO proud of Christopher Kell for going on QVC to launch Strawberry Lemonade. The first time is always a blur. But he crushed it and I’m so proud of him! So grateful for the partnership with QVC So grateful for all the hosts and guest host and production crew that welcomed him into the fold, encouraged him and showed him the ropes. We truly believe it is always worth it to try, always. Neotein is here because we believe, at any age, no matter what your dream is, it is worth pursuing, to success or failure, it is always worth a try. We are stoked to be growing something in #cpg and even more stoked to be doing it with the most amazing partners and community! Cheers to taking risks!

I experienced depression, for the first time in my life, when I stopped training to launch my brand. Growing up in mountains of Colorado, being active and eating well was all I knew. When I launched Neotein with two young boys at home (they were 2 & 3), I could no longer train 30+ hours/week. I didn’t know how important movement was to my mental health until I stopped. It has been a difficult journey to get back to where I was when I stopped, but as I slowly get back into training, I am seeing the fog lift. I am sleeping better. I have more patience with my kids, business partners, self. I have more focus and clarity. I have creative ideas again. Just to name a few. This was the first time in my life I didn’t have that constant physical movement and now that I realize how valuable it is to me, I will never just stop again. It is really hard to get back on the horse, but everyday I do it, I not only feel better, but my business is better, my family is better. I don’t consider it self care, to me, self care seems kinda like an optional thing, like a spa treatment. To me, it’s life. To me, physical movement and eating well are essential to the foundation of my life. Without them, I can’t operate, let alone scale, a business. I can’t parent well. I can’t be great employer. I can’t be a great business partner. I can’t be a great spouse. I can’t be a great friend. It is not selfish to do what is necessary to make sure you are mentally sound. #wellness #health #fitness #nutrition #founderstory

I failed, BIG TIME. I was training to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics in Triathlon before I started Neotein I was confident I would make it. I reached out to women I admired in the sport. Olympians. One of them gave me the best advice that, still to this day, has made this failure less painful: Embrace the journey. Have this goal, but don’t be afraid of where the journey takes you, and if it takes you somewhere different than you planned, enjoy it! The journey led me to founding a wellness brand, and walking away (for a time) from the sport. With the Olympics just around the corner, I won’t lie, it stings a little, to not be in Paris. But, her words give me hope, because without that goal, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Failure doesn’t have to be the end, often times it’s just a new beginning. I had an epiphany. The things I love about my life (my husband & kids, close friends & family, experiences I’ve had, Neotein ) Wouldn’t exist if I changed the parts of my past that I regret. Ergo I can’t have regret in the face of having a life I love. It is hard, especially in the thick of building something, when things feel uncertain and hard, to not wonder what it would be like “if only…” But, then I think about the people in my life and realize that if I changed any of my “if only” moments, I wouldn’t have those people. I’m approaching 40 and I finally got to a place, yesterday, where I realized this. It is a huge relief. It’s peaceful. Embracing what we love in our lives without accepting what we can’t change is not possible. I’m not in AA, but I really love the serenity prayer: Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change Courage to change the things I can And the wisdom to know the difference It has always resonated with me, but for the first time I believe I truly understand it. Don’t give up on your dreams, they need you! As I get older, I realize that carving out time to pursue what I’m passionate about is hard, but always worthwhile. I tell my kids, often, they can do anything. To dream big. To try. It’s OK to fail. Never give up. But I haven’t always taken that advice. In the wake of raising young children, and launching a brand, I have found myself putting my dreams on the back burner. (Yes, building the brand is a passion of mine, but sport is something that is selfish and for me, alone, and ultimately makes my dream of building Neotein easier!) I have come to realize that only I can make my dreams a reality. I read the book Big Magic and the kids book What Do You Do With An Idea? And realized that my dreams are special, there aren’t two people on the earth living the exact same life, with the exact same dreams. So my dreams need me just as much as I need them. I’m excited to get back into triathlon, competitively. I’m excited to dream big, again, and show my kids with some strategic time management, support, passion, and sacrifice, you can be a present parent and spouse, build a world-class brand, and also pursue something that makes me feel alive!
