Affordable EEGs. Empowering minds.

About us

Neurotech is expensive, but we believe it doesn't need to be. Our NeuroPawn Knight Board is an affordable 8-channel EEG data acquisition system. We offer similar performance to competitors at a cost that is magnitudes more affordable. Check out the Knight Board and more at our website www.neuropawn.tech

Project Spotlight: Goldilocks Last weekend the Goldilocks team (Hildelith Leyser, Sean Piatt, Ian Goodall-Halliwell, Zijing Wu, Sikanderdeep Singh Kingra, Megh Mistry) created WaveLinks: a neural synchrony detection platform. The purpose of this project was to enhance the patient-therapist connection during psychiatric treatment by evaluating the synchrony of their brainwaves. "This could potentially help therapists adjust in real time, building stronger emotional bonds, reducing stress, and improving outcomes for issues like depression, anxiety, and PTSD. WaveLink makes the invisible connection between patient and therapist visible, creating a new way to improve mental health treatment." - WaveLink Github https://lnkd.in/e_NMSgQE The used two NeuroPawn Biopotential Kits to obtain EEG-data from the right temporopareital junction of two individuals. They then put the EEG data streams through their SURFER model (Self-sUpervised coRrelation Feature analyzER). This model preprocesses each data stream, puts them through a convolutional neural network, then through a multi-layer perceptron to extract features. Finally, they perform a cross correlational analysis to determine the sync score. What an innovative project by a group of extremely talented and passionate individuals. The combination of ML and Neurotech in this regard, will surely advance our ability to treat mental health issues. We are honored to have been part of this project. If you would like to purchase a NeuroPawn Biopotential Kit please reach out to Abdallah Alwan.

  • Project Spotlight: NeuroKnights - The NeuroPawn Gambit Last weekend the NeuroKnights (Jessu Rizen Doroy, Matvey Okoneshnikov, Ivan Costa Neto, Arthur W., Alex Yurchuk) created a brain-computer interface (BCI) to play chess using NeuroPawn hardware for natHACKS. Their project used the SSVEP-BCI paradigm, which is where an individual's occipital lobe becomes entrained to the frequency of flashing stimuli. They determined user sentiment by extracting features from the Knightboard's EEG data stream using filter bank canonical correlational analysis. This group has tackled EEG electrode placement, signal processing, and GUI development. They constantly put themselves in the driver seat of the project, asking themselves "how would the user use this feature?" so that they can optimize the user experience. They are extremely dedicated, many of them staying up all night coding or working on their presentation. Although they did not win, they honed their problem-solving and critical thinking skills when it came to debugging their code, all while being in their first year of computer science and having no prior neurotech experience! These students are beyond talented, and NeuroPawn is honored to have worked with them. Big thanks to NeurAlbertaTech for hosting such an amazing hackathon! If you'd like to purchase a NeuroPawn Biopotential Kit as seen in the photos, please contact Abdallah Alwan.

The Introduction to NeuroPawn workshop was a success! Students learned about how brain waves are produced, how to record them with EEGs, and then what to do with those brain signals. At the end students got some hands-on time with the NeuroPawn Biopotential Kit. Here is the livestreamed VOD: https://lnkd.in/eaQh5JGn Huge thanks to NeurAlbertaTech for hosting. If you'd like to use NeuroPawn hardware during your hackathon contact them. If you would like to purchase a NeuroPawn Biopotential Kit please contact Abdallah Alwan.

✨ NeuroPawn's A-team, the University of Calgary ENGG 501/502 capstone group. These talented students are working diligently to make neurotech more inclusive by creating active electrodes that fit a variety of hair types. This team's work will make sure that no student, regardless of their background, is left behind if they want to explore neurotech and BCIs. Abdallah Alwan, the founder of NeuroPawn, can vouch for this group's hunger for innovation. Many of them are exploring highly challenging or under-researched areas of science, yet they always find a solution. They are undoubtedly the next generation of problem-solvers that will push boundaries to impact the world. • BrainFlow x NeuroPawn NeuroPawn is now officially supported by BrainFlow! "BrainFlow is a library intended to obtain, parse and analyze EEG, EMG, ECG and other kinds of data from biosensors. It provides a uniform data acquisition API for all supported boards, it means that you can switch boards without any changes in code and applications on top of BrainFlow are board agnostic." Using the NeuroPawn Knight Board with BrainFlow is as easy as executing 'pip install brainflow' in your Python environment. Additionally, many other programming languages are supported.
