🏆 We're thrilled to announce that Griffon Apartments has won a Tri-State Masonry Award! 🧱 The contemporary aesthetic of the brick pattern — especially the darker brick surrounding the windows — is designed to create visual interest and emphasize verticality to echo the verticality of the neighboring historic buildings. The selected masonry colors — Belden Sandy Rose, Belden Anchor (smooth), and Grand Blanc Ironwood — blend into the neighborhood and complement rather than directly match the adjacent buildings. Simplicity and clarity in form, palette and texture convey authenticity and acknowledge the historic context without resorting to historic mimicry. Josh comes to New Republic as an award-winning Senior Architect with nearly 15 years of professional experience working with both corporate and boutique firms in Chicago, New York City, Oklahoma City, and Detroit. His design acumen and rigor, as well as his project management and leadership, are frequently on display at New Republic through his direction and guidance on projects and he directly attributes that to his time serving in the military. Josh holds a master’s degree from Kansas State University where he graduated at the top of his class and received the Alpha Rho Chi medal. Due to his extensive experience in project types at all scales, he brings a sensible approach to innovation and discovery to our clients. If you can’t find Josh “in the trenches” working toward managing our client care and always overdelivering, he likely either swinging his metal detector in search of historic artifacts or collecting Pokémon cards with his six-year-old son.

We are thrilled to announce that NEW REPUBLIC won the Best Residential Restoration Award at the Heritage Ohio Awards for our work on the historic Moore-Knight House! Built in the 1860’s as the home of Robert Moore, the home was purchased by the Knight family -- the first African American family to take up residence in Price Hill -- in 1926. For the subsequent decades, the house was occupied by African American teachers and scholars, eventually being converted into multi-family apartments in the 1970’s. Once spared from demolition, NEW REPUBLIC was hired to restore the original house and add a new wing reminiscent of a historic carriage house, effectively reimagining this important Price Hill home for modern living. The new Women's Care Center location in Mt. Auburn is housed in a late Victorian Neo-Gothic castle. The NEW REPUBLIC team took an afternoon to tour the rehabilitation project, admire the historic detail, the rich woodwork, and the mullioned and stained-glass windows. We love it when we get to breathe new life into another grand dame of Cincinnati architecture, preserving these historic buildings and adapting them for modern use.
