About us

New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming open space in under-resourced communities to create a greener, more sustainable New York City. Since our founding in 1995 by Bette Midler, NYRP has planted trees, renovated gardens, restored parks, and transformed open space for communities throughout New York City's five boroughs. As New York's only citywide conservancy, we bring private resources to spaces that lack municipal support, fortifying the City's aging infrastructure and creating a healthier environment for those who live in the most densely populated and least green neighborhoods.

On Friday, I had the privilege of attending Bette Midler’s Hulaween gala, an unforgettable Halloween celebration benefiting New York Restoration Project. This year’s event, themed “In the Garden of Good and Evil,” was especially memorable as it honored a true New York icon—Robert De Niro. Hulaween is more than a glamorous gathering (though Vogue did say this is one of the most exclusive Halloween parties in the country.) It’s a powerful example of the impact that Corporate Social Responsibility and philanthropy can have on our communities. NYRP’s mission to transform public spaces, plant trees, and restore neglected areas is vital in creating a healthier, greener, and more accessible New York for ALL residents. The night was a whirlwind: burlesque performances, entertainers on stilts, En Vogue lighting up the stage, and dancing that kept us all moving into the night. But the real highlight is seeing how our contributions help shape a better New York —one that prioritizes green spaces and community well-being. Investing in initiatives like NYRP reminds me why giving back matters. Supporting these missions isn’t just about enhancing the physical landscape; it’s about building resilient, thriving communities, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to be part of a cause that aligns with my passion for making a difference, and my love for Halloween. Thank you NYRP and Bette Midler for an inspiring night of giving and Halloween spirit!

  • We are incredibly proud to have honored our Joan Kors Green Champions, Cassandra Clark and Josh Sirefman, at our #NYRPHulaween gala this past Friday!

Congratulations to Cassandra Clark and Josh Sirefman who became our green god and green goddess award recipients at the NYRP annual Hulaween Gala. New York Restoration Project (NYRP) supports 1.6 million New Yorkers in the area of our community parks and gardens. These areas are food deserts for fresh produce and area residents enjoy their access to nature for mental health. Thank you both for all that you do for New York City and NYRP. Best, Darcy Stacom Co-chair NYRP
