We're excited to share that after a successful pilot with Newlab, the New York City Department of Transportation has finalized inaugural rules to expand public e-bike battery charging and swapping cabinets citywide. That means property owners and tenants may apply to install e-micromobility battery swapping and charging cabinets on public sidewalks in front of their buildings. This is a true proofpoint of how Newlab’s program enables scale for founders and their technologies! Last year’s successful program with Newlab piloted 3 technologies selected by Newlab and NYC DOT: Popwheels, Swiftmile, and Swobbee. Effective February 1, 2025, the new “Charge Safe, Ride Safe” initiative intends to: ⚡ Reduce in-home charging, minimizing fire risks. ⚡ Provide access to UL-certified, digitally monitored batteries. ⚡ Offer safer charging options for delivery workers. With micromobility ridership surging, this infrastructure addresses safety, public accessibility, and sustainability. Thank you to NYC DOT and New York City Fire Department for their leadership in fostering a greener, safer future for our city. Learn more about the initiative: https://lnkd.in/ezNWDtd8
