Every time you turn on your tap and enjoy fresh, delicious water, you can thank the Safe Drinking Water Act! For 50 years, this landmark federal legislation has been a cornerstone of protecting the quality of drinking water across the U.S., and it’s a mission we take to heart every day at Newport News Waterworks. Guided by science-based EPA regulations, the Safe Drinking Water Act established rigorous standards that water utilities like ours are proud to meet—and exceed! As science evolves and new challenges emerge, the Safe Drinking Water Act has adapted too. Updates over the years have helped address emerging threats and seize opportunities to ensure that your water remains clean, safe, and reliable. We’re honored to be part of this ongoing legacy, delivering the high-quality water you depend on. Cheers to 50 years of safeguarding your tap water! #WorkForWater #EssentialWaterWorkers #50thAnniversarySDWA #SafeDrinkingWaterAct
